Creating titles to books has always come naturally to me because all of my poetry books have been inspired by my own life's experiences. Never Mind the Abyss: A Book of Poetry and Prose, dealt with love, life and spirituality; Agents of Fortune: Poems Inspired By Past Loves and Male Muses, well that one is self explanatory. She Stay Lit: Poetry in Images, was inspired by my first two poetry books as it has poems from both but with images in the backdrop, and finally “That’s What,” She Said: A Book of Poems, dealt with poems that were inspired by what was going on with me at that moment in my life.
My latest book is no exception. It will be titled, Daughter of Stars and Nightmares: Poems from the Soul. Although, I came up with the title through a create your own fantasy book title meme, where you had to choose your zodiac sign and the first two initials of your name and next to them were specific words. I’m probably not describing it right, but hopefully you get the gist of what I'm trying to say. The end result was The Daughter of Stars and Nightmares. I thought it sounded pretty cool, so I decided to use it as my name Tara means Star in Hindi and my life has been kind of a nightmare.
The poems that will be featured will be old poems from when I was younger and struggling through life. I was homeless and on dialysis at one point and I’ve suffered from depression since I was a child. Some of the poems are over twenty years old. Yet, there will also be recent poems from last year and this year. A lot of them are about love and loss as I have decided that I wasn’t meant to be in a relationship with anyone and I choose to be alone. It sounds sad but with my physical and mental health issues, I thought it’d be better for everyone. Although I still love my twin flames. They know who they are.
As with all my book covers, this one was created with a public domain, royalty free image from pixabay and Canva, a free-to-use online graphic design tool. I wanted it to represent the title, showing a monster and girl somewhat embracing each other because that’s what I did with my life, I embraced the nightmare and with it found hope, which is represented by stars. That is who I am, that is what I am made of, hope and unpleasantness. The poems will vary between long and short ones, so hopefully it will appeal to everyone who decides to read it. Until next time, my Loves..
