Richard Burwood
Richard has spent more than two decades leading major capital portfolios and strategic projects across Australia’s heavy industrial landscape — from power stations and chemical plants to steel mills and aluminium smelters. His career has centred on solving complex problems, building high‑performing teams, and delivering significant projects and portfolios worth tens of millions of dollars with clarity, structure and purpose.
He has a sound knowledge of the project management processes required to deliver significant multi‑disciplinary strategic projects safely, on time and on budget.
But CalculitX is built from more than professional expertise — it’s built from a lifetime of curiosity, creativity and hands‑on making.
Richard designed and built his first model aeroplane at age seven, cutting balsa wood with a hobby knife to create a shoebox chuck glider that actually flew. That early spark grew into a lifelong passion for designing, building and flying model aircraft, including a 2.4‑metre radio‑controlled sailplane that soared beautifully (and far faster than his flying skills were ready for).
He has always loved learning, technology and innovation — especially anything that reduces friction and frees people to focus on what matters. That’s why Excel automation resonates so strongly with him: it’s a way to turn complexity into clarity, and repetitive tasks into one‑click simplicity. CalculitX exists to share that philosophy with others.
Beyond work and making, Richard is a family man with four adult children and a grandson who brings him enormous joy. Time spent playing, building and exploring with family is a big part of what inspires the “Play” and “Possibility” pillars of CalculitX.
Today, CalculitX brings together everything Richard values:
smart tools that save time, hands‑on projects that spark creativity, and a belief that anyone can build something meaningful — whether it’s a spreadsheet, a glider, or a new idea.
