Hi!

Calm Screen Parenting was created by us, the Hellers — parents of four, married for 24 years, raising children across very different ages and stages: a 23-year-old daughter, and sons aged 20, 16, and 12.

Both of us grew up in large families before the digital age. We knew a childhood with more outdoor time, more boredom, more family presence, and fewer screens competing for attention. Today, we are raising our own children in a very different world — a world of smartphones, games, social media, online pressure, AI, school screens, creativity, distraction, and constant change.

We are not against technology. We love creativity, learning, tools, innovation, and the new possibilities opening up for children and families. But we also wanted to protect something deeper: the warmth of the home, real conversation, family rhythm, meaningful activity, responsibility, and the ability of a child to grow from the inside — not only react to a screen.

Over the years, we discovered something simple and powerful: children do not only need less screen time. They need more life. They need meaning, challenge, creativity, skills, movement, responsibility, connection, and projects that make them feel capable and alive. When the home is filled with real content, screens naturally become less powerful.

This project did not begin as theory. It grew out of real parenting: the arguments, the resets, the mistakes, the late-night worries, the first phones, the social pressure, the conversations, and the constant search for a calmer way.

Calm Screen Parenting was created to help other parents lead with clarity instead of panic, set boundaries without turning the home into a battlefield, understand what children are experiencing online, and build a family culture where technology serves growth, creativity, responsibility, and connection — not emptiness, comparison, and constant distraction.

For us, this approach helped protect the heart of our home.

We believe it can help yours too.

This is parent-to-parent guidance: practical, calm, honest, and built for real families.
