How the system works

  • 1. Understand the pattern

Before changing rules, map when screens happen, where the fights begin, and what your child is really getting from the screen.

  • 2. Set two calm rules

Do not start with ten rules. Start with two clear boundaries your family can actually hold.

  • 3. Use scripts and agreements

Prepare the words before the fight begins. Use printable agreements so the rule is not invented in the middle of conflict.

  • 4. Build more real life

Screens become less powerful when children have meaningful activities, skills, movement, creativity, responsibility, and connection to return to.

About us

Calm Screen Parenting was created by us, the Hellers — parents of four, married for 24 years, raising children across different ages and stages: 23, 20, 16, and 12.

Both of us grew up in large families before the digital age. Today, we are raising our own children in a world of smartphones, games, social media, online pressure, AI, school screens, creativity, distraction, and constant change.

We are not against technology. We believe screens can be tools for learning, creativity, connection, and growth. But we also believe children need more than digital stimulation. They need meaning, movement, responsibility, creativity, skills, family rhythm, and real connection.

Over the years, we discovered something simple and powerful:

Children do not only need less screen time.

They need more life.

When the home is filled with real content, screens naturally become less powerful.

This project grew out of real parenting: the arguments, the resets, the mistakes, the late-night worries, the first phones, the social pressure, and the search for a calmer way.

This is parent-to-parent guidance: practical, honest, calm, and built for real families.

You do not need to fix everything in one day.

Start with one clear rule.

One calmer conversation.

One printable agreement.

One better screen transition.

One real-life alternative your child can return to.

The Complete Starter System gives you the guides, scripts, agreements, and ideas to begin changing the rhythm at home — calmly and practically.
