Celandine Wood Animal Rescue is a small local rescue and sanctuary based in the Wirral, providing refuge, care, and support for animals in need. We were founded by a vet who was often asked to euthanise healthy animals, so she launched Celandine Wood to give them the second chance they deserved.

Supporting our rescue

Our rescue survives because of people who care. Every emergency surgery, every frightened arrival, every warm bed and full bowl is made possible by supporters who stand with us.

Consequently, we've helped 100s of animals get a second chance at life, but we hope to continue for many years to come.

However, as with everything else, our costs are forever increasing. Rent alone is £3,300 per month currently. Even the disinfectant is nearly £300 per month, just to keep the kennels clean and safe... and the list goes on. We are solely self-funded and would not be able to keep going without the generosity of the public.

Sponsorship

Previously our sponsorship strategy has been focused around individual animals. This proved very difficult for the rescue to maintain, and we realised that we were not able to fulfil what people were signing up to receive. We have therefore restructured and redesigned the sponsorship programme, making it simpler to donate, whilst also making it more sustainable for the volunteers to manage.

What this means

Rather than sponsoring one specific dog or cat, sponsors become supporters of the rescue's overall work. This reflects reality, as donations help every animal through:

- veterinary care

- food

- enrichment

- rehabilitation

- transport

- emergency rescues

- kennel and cattery facilities

to ensure our animals are kept safe, comfortable and as happy as possible whilst they are with us.

Sponsors become partners in saving lives rather than owners of one story.

Individual animals can still be sponsored if requested but the aim is to give redistribute time and energy into being able to care for the animals, which we hope you understand.
