Every post is a card drawn from the deck — a glimpse into story, tarot, and the worlds between.

Welcome to the heart of my storytelling world. Here, you’ll find the hidden sparks behind my books — thoughts on tarot archetypes, glimpses into the lives of my characters, and reflections on the craft of weaving magic into words.

Some posts are personal, others dive deep into myth and symbolism, but all of them are threads in the larger tapestry of Arcanis.

Choose the post that calls to you — much like drawing a card — and see what story it reveals.

The Mirror and the Well

What the Tarot really is - and how to view it.

The Emperor

Is the Emperor your protector — or your tyrant?

The Emperor is one of tarot’s most commanding archetypes. Upright, he represents protection, discipline, and the stability of healthy boundaries. Reversed, he becomes the tyrant — rigid, suppressive, and fearful of chaos.

In Way of the Wands, this duality plays out in Battonia: the Ember King embodies the upright Emperor, offering order and growth in a harsh desert world, while the Magister reflects the reversed Emperor, twisting boundaries into shackles.

This post explores how the Emperor’s archetype helps us reflect on our own relationship with authority — both the structures that support us, and the rules that confine us. Do your boundaries serve freedom, or do they imprison it?
