Introduction to ongoing collection | Studies in Restraint is a series built on limitation, a deliberate narrowing of subject, palette, and gesture. Through repetition, the work becomes an exercise in restraint, allowing traditional techniques and classical composition to create a sense of calm and familiarity.
At its core, the collection reflects a very human impulse, the need to return to something steady. Much like revisiting the same thought, memory, or place, the repeated form becomes a place of grounding. Each piece holds variations in colour, surface, and tone, echoing how familiarity never truly stays the same.
These variations mirror the way emotion or change enters everyday life, sometimes familiar or often unexpectedly.
Each work stands alone, yet gains depth as part of the ongoing series. The collection continues to grow slowly, reflecting a process rooted in patience, intuition, and the human need for balance rather than resolution.

About the Artist...
My journey with painting began as a little girl while visiting with my Nana, watching her bring subjects to life on fabric with gentle brushstrokes and endless patience. It was there, surrounded by fabric paints and stories, that my love for creating was quietly born.
While I’ve had the privilege of learning from my highly skilled school teacher, Mrs. Watson, most of my artistic path has been self-taught. I’ve spent years learning through trial and instinct.
Today, I find pleasure in pencil sketching but I work primarily in oil paints, capturing the strength, grace, and spirit of wildlife, our animal companions, custom pieces for clients and projects that spark my creativity. My work is about perfection of presence, stillness, texture and the feeling of stepping into that moment or scene.
I see each canvas or project as an opportunity to pause and reconnect, something I believe many of us are quietly craving.
