Creative Pedagogy

This independent online journal is hosted by the Group for Learning in Art and Design (GLAD‑HE) via Payhip. GLAD’s remit is to foster critical discussion and share best practice in enhancing the student experience across Art, Design and Media. We seek to promote and stimulate debate around developments in teaching and learning within Higher Education.

GLAD convenes an annual symposium or conference that brings together colleagues from across the sector to discuss, debate and disseminate emerging practice. Since 2021, individual presenters have been offered the opportunity to publish their work in a post‑symposium collection. Previous collections were published as special editions of the online journal Innovative Practice in Higher Education (IPiHE), hosted by Staffordshire University until its closure in January 2026. The archive of this journal remains accessible at https://journals.staffs.ac.uk/.

In 2026, GLAD took the strategic decision to consolidate its publications under a single series. Creative Pedagogy was launched in Spring 2026, with its inaugural issue published in Summer 2026. The Editor of IPiHE kindly granted permission for GLAD to host the earlier special editions, which now form part of the Creative Pedagogy collection.

Creative Pedagogy is a double‑blind peer‑reviewed publication dedicated to promoting and sustaining a research‑active culture among practitioners in art and design higher education. It is particularly aimed at colleagues committed to enhancing the student experience and advancing academic practice.

The GLAD committee is entirely volunteer‑led, driven by a shared passion for knowledge exchange and the dissemination of sector-leading practice. Our publications provide immediate open access on the principle that making research freely available supports a richer global exchange of knowledge.
