Today, I am delighted to be able to share with you the launch of Something For The Weekend which is the titular pattern in my Something For The Weekend collection.
This launch seems to have been a long time in coming as I have had to teach myself a few new tricks to be able to knit and refine this design, but I am thrilled that it is finally ready for you to purchase.
I love this simple and fun triangular design which is also a quick and good value knit, too! You only need one skein of 4ply yarn (400m/437 yds), and if you wanted to, you could complete this project in a weekend. But that’s not why I’ve named this pattern Something For The Weekend! Rather it’s been so named because the pattern captures the feeling of a weekend perfectly.
Because we all love the weekend. Friday night comes and Monday seems an age away. But we also know that Sunday night can arrive all too quickly.
When you cast this knit on it feels like Friday night. It’s a fairly big cast on so the end (Monday) seems a long way off. The main body of the pattern feels a lot like a Saturday: you have lots to do, but it’s fun and relaxing and your mind still isn’t quite ready to think about the fact that Monday will be here sooner rather than later. By Sunday morning it still feels quite relaxed and you want to make the most of it, but the rows start getting shorter and shorter until suddenly you’ve reached the last stitch: Sunday night is upon you! And then that Monday feeling hits you when you realise there is no more knitting to be done and you now need to block your finished work!
Suitable for knitters of all abilities, it's ideal for beginners looking for a project with a slight challenge, but is far easier than it looks. And for the seasoned knitter, it's a great box set companion that can also be put down and picked up easily. It's a fun, rhythmic pattern that results in a beautiful make that looks particularly good as a bandanna, but can also be worn over the shoulders too. But however you choose to wear it, you'll be sure to have a few versions of this pattern in your wardrobe!
