I’m Joe Grubbs, a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and the creator of Grubbs VA Guide.

I served in the Marine Corps from 2006–2010 on active duty, followed by Reserve service through 2014. During my military career, I deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan.

After leaving active duty, I built a career in industrial maintenance, eventually gaining more than 20 years of maintenance experience, including leadership and management roles.

But one of the biggest learning curves of my life came after military service: learning how to navigate the VA system.

Like many Veterans, I discovered that understanding VA benefits isn't always simple. There are different types of claims, evidence requirements, ratings, appeals, healthcare programs, education benefits, VR&E, home loans, family benefits, Special Monthly Compensation, and countless other programs and rules to understand.

I started Grubbs VA Guide because I wanted to take what I had learned and organize it into something Veterans could actually use.

Not complicated legal language.

Not promises of guaranteed ratings.

Not “file everything and hope for the best.”

Instead, my goal is simple:

Educate. Empower. Support.

Grubbs VA Guide is built around understanding the issue, documenting the facts, organizing the evidence, and knowing what questions to ask next.

I've created practical guides, checklists, worksheets, symptom logs, evidence tools, and educational resources designed to help Veterans better understand their options and take control of their own records and benefits.

I'm not here to tell you what claim you should file or promise you a particular outcome.

I'm here to help you understand the system well enough to make informed decisions about your own VA journey.
