Throwing In The Towel

I don't think one consciously decides to throw in the towel,

You just wake up one morning and find that you have no zest for life,

You just find yourself asking the question, 'Why bother?'

I don't think one consciously decides to throw in the towel,

You just realize that your efforts are not bearing fruit,

You begin to wonder what you have to show for yourself.

I don't think one consciously decides to throw in the towel,

You just find yourself running on autopilot,

You find yourself smiling for the crowd though there are tears in your eyes.

I don't think one consciously decides to throw in the towel,

You just find yourself carrying on with life, half agony half hope,

You figure that since you are still alive, God must still have a plan!
