A recent visit to Hinchinbrook Shire Library

For Librarians

I love connecting children with books in the places where their reading journeys begin. My library visits are designed for young readers and their families, combining interactive storytelling, conversation, curiosity and hands-on activities.

What Does a Library Visit Look Like?

A library visit might include:

  • Interactive storytime: A lively read-aloud of The Sugarcane Harvester Song
  • Meet the author: Children discover what it's really like to write and publish a picture book
  • Explore and ask questions: Conversation around farms, food, machines, books or whatever sparks their curiosity
  • Hands-on activities: Age-appropriate activities that extend the story beyond the page
  • A visit from Maggie: Kids love engaging with my Maggie the magpie puppet
  • Book signing: An opportunity for families to purchase a copy and have it signed (optional)

Thank you so much for joining us for our Playtime session during the school holiday we really appreciated your time.
