Sing, move, explore, and learn through story

Inspired by Australian farming life and big machines, Cynthia Sappracone’s interactive author visits combine storytelling, music, movement, sensory exploration, and early STEM concepts for children aged 2–5.

Supports Early Learning Outcomes

Sessions are designed to support early literacy, communication, music and movement, sensory exploration, confidence, participation, curiosity, and early STEM learning through interactive storytelling and play.

Experiences are aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) for children aged 2–5.

What to Expect

Interactive Sing-Along Storytime

Children join in with rhythm, repetition, and movement as we read and sing our way through The Sugarcane Harvester Song together.

Movement & Music Activities

Children imitate the movements of harvesting machinery through playful actions, dancing, and sound-making designed to encourage participation, coordination, and confidence.

Sensory Exploration

Children can touch real sugarcane stalks and learn about where sugar comes from through age-appropriate discussion and hands-on exploration.

Optional Sugarcane Juice Tasting

Where suitable, children may have the opportunity to try a small sip of sugarcane juice as part of the sensory experience.

Maggie Puppet Photo Opportunity

Children can meet Maggie the magpie puppet and take part in a fun group photo opportunity after the session.

Take-Home Resources

Printable colouring sheets and optional signed book orders are available for families after the visit.
