About Me
Who am I?
I am the author of the Replika Trilogy and of the Tales of Gymbro Horror.
I’m a dad of three boys, living in Québec City. I enjoy cycling, reading, working out and spending time in nature. I make soup every week, Pho or Ramen (from scratch, not from a bag).
I love playing with sentences to unravel unexpected stories.
I’m always thinking about the readers' experience as I write. Wanting to make the journey more exciting, scarier, more intriguing, funnier or more emotionally gratifying. I am always trying to push the limits of where a story can go.
My main goal is to give the readers a good time, while making the experience seamless and lean, by kinking out clunky writing and eliminating superfluous details.
How do I do this?
By editing, editing and re-editing.
I don’t like telling the same old story that has been told a thousand times. I like taking things in unexpected directions, mixing genres and not sticking to tropes, even if some readers might find themselves on unfamiliar grounds, other readers will be thrilled to find originality and to discover new possibilities, always while having fun.
I have a backlog of crazy stories that I look forward to sharing with you.
Thanks for joining me on this adventure. Your support matters, not only through sales, but by connecting with me, reviewing my books and sharing your love of them with friends and family.
Cheers friends,
Hugo Bernard.
