Meet The Cast

JEFFREY HOLLAND has done everything from Shakespeare to playing his hero Stan Laurel, but is best-loved as holiday camp comedian Spike Dixon in Hi-de-Hi! and is proud to have appearances in many other David Croft shows including Are You Being Served?, Dad’s Army, It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, and Oh, Doctor Beeching!, but his favourite is You Rang, M’Lord?, and he is thrilled to be playing James once more.

SU POLLARD is a National Treasure. West End musicals such as Me & My Girl, Nationwide pantomime playing everything from principal boy to the wicked queen, and even a hit single with Starting Together. Su’s big comedy break was as dotty chalet-maid Peggy in Hi-de-Hi!, remaining part of the David Croft repertory company as Ivy in You Rang, M’Lord?, and Ethel in Oh, Doctor Beeching!

JUDY BUXTON’s stage career has encompassed everything from Juliet for the Royal Shakespeare Company to high-octane farce for Ray Cooney. Her best-loved television situation comedy roles include Richard Beckinsale’s posh girlfriend Caroline in Rising Damp, and Dennis Waterman’s estranged wife in On the Up. As originally played by the much-missed Barbara New, Judy’s pitch-perfect recreation of Mabel is at the very heart of James & Ivy.

PERRY BENSON has many hard-hitting dramas to his credit, including the critically acclaimed Scum, and This is England, but he will forever be remembered as the hard-done-by bootboy Henry in You Rang, M’Lord?, a role he is delighted to return to for James & Ivy. His many other TV comedy appearances include Ralph in Oh, Doctor Beeching!, Freddy Gorgous in Filthy, Rich & Catflap, Bones in Operation Good Guys, and Clive Dyke in Benidorm.

SUSIE BRANN is one of Britain’s busiest and most prolific voice actors, memorably playing Alice Liddell in America McGee’s Alice, Alice: Madness Returns, and Alice: Otherlands. Susie’s TV credits include Jim Tavare Pictures Presents..., Carol Preston in Casualty, Ruth Hardy in Missing, and a regular role as Mona Jitter in Julia Jekyll and Harriet Hyde. She is thrilled to be returning to her finest screen role, as that duplicitous little cat Miss Poppy.

JOHN D. COLLINS is also delighted to be back, for wherever Miss Poppy goes Jerry is sure to follow. A favourite of David Croft, John is most beloved as silly ass airman Fairfax in ‘Allo ‘Allo but has also chalked up appearances in Are You Being Served?, Dad’s Army, Hi-de-Hi!, It Ain’t Half Hot Mum, and Oh, Doctor Beeching! John has also supported such top comedians as Tommy Cannon & Bobby Ball, Dick Emery, and Kenny Everett.

MICHAEL FENTON STEVENS is a prolific radio actor and comedian who first came to fame as part of the Radio Active team. The TV series KYTV resulted, and Michael’s many other small screen comedy credits include Benidorm, Drop the Dead Donkey, The Legacy of Reginald Perrin, Mr. Bean, One Foot in the Grave, Only Fools and Horses, and Trevor’s World of Sport. Michael is the host of the popular My Time Capsule podcast.

DAVID BENSON is a fringe theatre favourite ever since writing and starring in the award-winning solo show Think No Evil of Us: My Life with Kenneth Williams. Since then he has played Frankie Howerd, and half the cast of Dad’s Army in the touring radio shows. On television David played the recurring role of Noel Coward in Goodnight Sweetheart. He claims one of his oddest assignments as a hologram Liberace in the feature film Blade Runner 2049.
