Some people chase greatness. Russell Scott chooses to ignite it in himself and in others.
As the founder of True Indeed LLC, a respected speaker, mentor, consultant, and lifestyle model with Ford Robert Black Agency, Russell lives with intentionality. But his mission reaches far beyond personal success. At his core, he’s building something deeper, a movement grounded in truth, faith, and legacy.
“I want to inspire greatness,” Russell says. “To create a vanguard network of influence and then ask those that feel inspired to inspire others. Iron sharpens iron every time. If better is possible, then good is not enough. But we don’t stop there, because better is just a little more than good. Can we get to greatness? It’s possible. And if greatness is possible, then better is just not good enough. We can do all things…”
This isn’t just motivational language, it’s how he lives. His mindset is his ministry. And yet, this clarity was earned through pain, self-reflection, and surrender.
When the world slowed down in 2020, Russell didn’t just pause, he went inward.
“The shutdown was a time to do a deep dive into my mentality and my spirit. Fear and doubt were stitches in my fabric,” he shares with vulnerable honesty.
“I was a good coach. Leading young people was a passion. But I wasn’t in love with myself because I doubted myself and feared judgment. I had to let go of the scars of my past. I was carrying them and using them as excuses for why I wasn’t moving forward.”
And then came the breakthrough, not through striving, but through scripture.
“I realized my value reading the Word. I learned to control the controllables and give the rest to God.”
That internal shift sparked something larger, a desire to pour into others with the same love and guidance that once carried him.
“I just want to do what influencers did for me,” he says. “It takes a village. My village was impactful, and so being a small part of someone else’s village, that’s how I pay it forward.”
For Russell, legacy isn’t about being remembered for the spotlight, it’s about being remembered for the impact.
“I look at it as the dash on my headstone. My eulogy… given by someone whose life I touched. When God calls, I want to know I was doing my part to be a servant. Not all of us can be popular, but we can all be great because greatness is determined by service.”
So what wisdom would he offer to someone building their purpose, one step at a time?
“Don’t be afraid to ask for help. And don’t compare yourself to others.”
And then he adds something powerful:
“Take care of the greatest weapon we have. Our minds are the gateway to the life we believe we can live.”
Russell Scott’s journey is a reminder that healing is holy. That influence begins within. And that legacy is not measured by the noise we make, but by the hearts we move.
Thank you, Russell, for showing us what it means to build from the inside out, with humility, vision, and unwavering faith.
