The 7 Cs of Resilience

Resilience isn’t something I discovered all at once, it’s something I’ve lived, piece by piece, through loss, rebirth, self-discovery, and purpose. As I continue building La’Heart Desires, I’ve realized that resilience isn’t just about surviving; it’s about transforming. These are the 7 Cs of resilience through my own lens, shaped by my journey, my faith, and the legacy I’m carrying forward.

1. Competence: The Foundation I Built From Within

Over the past few years, my sense of competence has evolved into something deeper than skill. It’s a blend of experience, self-awareness, and faith. Losing my father and transitioning away from football forced me to rebuild my identity from the ground up.

Through La’Heart Desires, I’ve learned how to organize, create, and execute ideas rooted in meaning. I’ve developed the ability to take a vision and turn it into something tangible that uplifts others. My competence shows in how I lead with structure, think strategically, and build from the heart, not just for myself, but for those who believe in what I stand for.

2. Confidence: Quiet, Steady, and Rooted in Purpose

My confidence no longer comes from validation or titles, it comes from knowing exactly who I am and why I’m here. I rebuilt it through solitude, discipline, faith, and service.

Every time I speak, write, or create through La’Heart Desires, I’m reminded that confidence isn’t loud. It’s steady. It’s the quiet assurance that no matter what comes, I have the strength and vision to keep going.

3. Connection: The Heartbeat of My Mission

Connection is the soul of everything I do. It’s what La’Heart Desires represents, meaningful bonds that inspire, empower, and educate.

I’ve learned that real connection comes from authenticity, vulnerability, and purpose. Through community work, mentorship, my writing, and the Legacy Spotlight series, I focus on creating spaces where people feel seen, valued, and understood. These connections remind me that healing and growth are not solo journeys, they’re shared ones.

4. Character: Who I Am When No One’s Watching

Character has been one of the deepest lessons of my journey. I’ve committed to aligning my actions with my values, integrity, consistency, and compassion.

Losing my father taught me the importance of legacy. Not the legacy built through fame, but the legacy built through how you make people feel. Every choice I make reflects my commitment to living with purpose, honoring my faith, and leading by example. My character is shaped by humility, accountability, and a willingness to grow through discomfort.

5. Contribution: Turning Pain Into Purpose

My greatest contribution has been transforming pain into something meaningful. La’Heart Desires isn’t just a brand, it’s my offering to the world. A bridge between struggle and strength.

Through my writing and community engagement, I help others find peace, clarity, and direction the same things I’ve been learning to find within myself. Every conversation, every story, every piece of content is part of my contribution to something bigger than me.

6. Coping: Learning to Feel, Release, and Rebuild

Coping has been one of the most challenging but beautiful parts of my journey. I’ve faced grief, uncertainty, and moments of feeling lost but I’ve learned to let those experiences shape me, not break me.

Through journaling, prayer, mindfulness, and intentional solitude, I’ve created healthy systems to support my mental and emotional balance. I no longer run from the hard days. I let them teach me. My coping is grounded in trusting God, honoring my father’s memory, and accepting that healing is a daily act of courage.

7. Control: Balancing Surrender and Structure

Control used to mean trying to predict outcomes. Now it means focusing on alignment. I control my mindset, my discipline, and my response to challenges. The rest, I surrender to God.

I’ve learned that true power comes from managing my energy, not forcing results. This balance between faith and effort, surrender and structure is what allows me to move forward with peace instead of pressure.

Final Thoughts: Resilience Is a Lifestyle

The 7 Cs of resilience aren’t just concepts to me they’re lived experiences. They’ve shaped my identity, my mission, and the foundation of La’Heart Desires. As I continue growing, serving, and building, these principles guide me back to myself, back to God, and back to my purpose.

Resilience is not about never breaking, it’s about rebuilding stronger, wiser, and more aligned every time.
