About
Finding balance through creative, symbolic and intuitive body-based work.
Hello, my name is Laura and I am a designer and facilitator of spaces that foster Good living. As passed down by the peoples of the Colombian Amazon and other Andean cultures, Good Living refers to a lifestyle based on mutual respect and reciprocity; a way of existing in the world that unfurls through harmony and interconnectedness with ourselves, with the world around us, with our communities, with the cosmos and with history.
My practice is rooted in that belief, and informed by my own journey through PCOs, neurodiversity, depression, anxiety, motherhood and immigration -experiences that have profoundly shaped my worldview and reaffirmed my conviction that our true capital, our safest path to sustainable, joyful living, is and will always be our relationships; not only those we have with the people around us, but those we are able to create and maintain with our bodies, with our stories, with our territories, and with all the life forms that inhabit them.
I officially began to train as a body worker when I became a doula back in Colombia over 15 years ago, sure that bringing care and sacredness back into the birth process would slowly but surely transform the world we live in. The depth of birth, the ecstatic, out-of-time quality of labour, the surrender to nature’s rhythms that is necessary for whilst bringing a new soul into the world, changed me forever. Working alongside traditional and urban midwives and massage practitioners, I started to weave these practices and realisations with all I had learnt from my previous work; my volunteering with different communities, my love for languages and translation, my passion for singing, my studies in permaculture and eco-feminism, and that undying wish to leave this world a better place… a softer place.
With time all these pathways converged into a lifelong commitment to integrative healing. Since then, I have studied with diverse teachers across countries and disciplines, continually deepening my understanding of the mind-body connection, and becoming aware of the structural and systemic challenges that limit the wellbeing practices as individual processes.
Noticing the political, social and environmental vacuum in which “the wellness industry” continues to exist, my work looks to offer a lovingly tailored blend of somatic therapies with community expression; of symbolic and individual introspection, with ritual and collective celebration; seeking to honour the sacred and mythological aspects of our stories and how it is in sharing those stories that we effectively change the world.
I believe in the revolutionary potential of reclaiming our bodies as primordial territories of wisdom and freedom. I believe that embodiment can help us create a more compassionate world, where care is at the centre of our communities and where healing is not a service delivered from the top down but rather a living, communal practice that belongs to everyone
