Breaking the Camel's Back - stage and screen

I'm happy to update you on the progress of my short play Breaking the Camel's Back.

It was selected by the Magpie Theatre company to be performed at Hope Street Theatre Liverpool in the UK on 31 March 2023 as part of a New Writing Night. This is what Magpie Theatre say about the show:

"When a social media influencer is tasked with clearing out her recently deceased grandmother's attic, she discovers a past that makes her consider her own life. She finds herself questioning what we value in life, how we live and much more. All of a sudden, the grandmother she dismissed as boring takes on a whole new significance.

As well as putting our modern lives into perspective, Breaking The Camel's Back also teaches some valuable lessons about family.

This play manages to be touching and profound while also injecting some laugh out loud comedy moments. It also features an emotionally moving character arc that will leave you reeling by the end."

Then I was approached by a film maker in Mauritius to write a screenplay for him. When he saw the script for Breaking The Camel's Back he decided that this is the story he wants to tell through film.

We are currently adapting the script for film, casting the main roles and finding the perfect location.
