About Me
Hi, I’m Emma — the teacher and designer behind Modern Maker Classroom.
I spent my teaching career working as a Design & Technology teacher in and around London, including in high-performing schools, teaching D&T across a range of year groups and abilities. After years in the classroom, I made the big decision to move to Spain with my family in search of a slower pace of life and a new adventure.
Although I’ve stepped away from the traditional classroom, I haven’t stepped away from education — in fact, Modern Maker Classroom grew from everything I wished I’d had more of as a busy D&T teacher.
I now create resources to support both D&T specialists and non-specialist teachers, with a focus on making lessons easier to deliver, reducing planning time and helping students access sometimes complex D&T content with confidence.
My resources include clear and engaging worksheets, retrieval practice activities, knowledge resources, project materials, classroom tasks, teacher support resources and much more. I put a huge amount of thought into the layout and visual design of everything I make, using clear graphics, accessible language and carefully structured content.
As a designer as well as a teacher, I genuinely love making resources that are useful, clear and beautiful. I believe a classroom resource can be practical and well designed — and that good visual communication can make a real difference to how students understand and engage with a subject.
Everything in Modern Maker Classroom is created with real classroom experience behind it. My aim is simple: to make teaching D&T a little easier, save teachers valuable time, and give students resources that help them succeed.
Whether you’re an experienced D&T specialist looking to lighten your planning load, or a non-specialist who has suddenly found yourself teaching D&T and needs some extra support, you’re very welcome here.
Clear resources. Thoughtful design. Made by a D&T teacher, for teachers.
