About Me
Stefano Vagnini is a distinguished composer, organist, harpsichordist, and music theorist with a comprehensive career in both classical and contemporary music.
Education Stefano earned his degree in Organ and Organ Composition from the "G. Rossini" Conservatory of Music in Pesaro in 1986, completing the ten-year program with top marks. That same year, he received a master's degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. In 1988, he completed his degree in Electronic Music at the "G. Rossini" Conservatory. Between 1983 and 1985, he attended masterclasses with renowned organists Monserrat Torrent, Liuwe Tamminga, André Isoir, and Michael Radulescu.
Professional Experience From 1988 to 1992, Stefano served as a professor of Organ and Composition at the "A. Casella" Conservatory of Music in L'Aquila and the "E. F. Dall’Abaco" Conservatory of Music in Verona. He conducted the Slave Song gospel choir (2000-2008) and the Mezio Agostini opera choir (1999-2006).
Concerts and Artistic Direction Stefano has performed organ concerts in various countries including the USA, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, China, Spain, England, Scotland, Denmark, Poland, Finland, the Netherlands, South Korea, Japan, and France. He was the artistic director of the Santa Maria Nuova International Organ Festival from 1986 to 2014.
Publications and Compositions His published works include LPs, CDs, and books such as Isola di Koch, The Nicolaus, The Modular Method in Music, Via Crucis, Messa Picena, and De revolutionibus. He also published the book Ergo sum and the poetry collection Salmodiesubliminali.
Musical Theory and Research In 1997, Stefano developed the Modular Music composition methodology, which extends to other art forms as ModulArt. He has researched artists like Giorgio Gaber and Samuel Beckett.
Conferences and Masterclasses Stefano has conducted masterclasses and conferences at various international universities and cultural centers, sharing his expertise in modular music and compositional techniques. He teaches organ and piano jazz at the Malta Piano Academy.
