My name is Zdravko Ivančić, and I am a mechanical engineer, entrepreneur, and educator with over two and a half decades of experience in engineering analysis, consultancy, and training. I was born in 1972 in Rečica Kriška near Ivanić Grad, Croatia, and graduated in 1998 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture at the University of Zagreb, specializing in thermodynamics and process engineering.
My professional journey began in HVAC design at Trgoterm Ltd., but I quickly transitioned into the specialized field of pipe stress analysis. Between 2000 and 2004, I worked with ALSTOM Power in Croatia and Switzerland, focusing on stress and flexibility calculations for piping systems. These years were formative, exposing me to international standards and high-level engineering practices.
Upon returning to Croatia, I joined KONČAR – Generators and Motors, where I led mechanical calculations for hydrogenerators and turbogenerators. In 2006, I became head of the mechanical calculations department, overseeing ventilation, thermal analysis, and structural integrity assessments.
In 2007, driven by a desire to create something of my own, I founded NUMIKON Ltd., and later NUMIKON PRO Ltd. in 2022. These companies reflect my vision of combining deep technical expertise with innovation and client-focused consultancy. As managing director and lead engineer, I’ve built a team that delivers advanced engineering services, including static and dynamic pipe stress analysis, finite element modeling, pressure vessel design, and pulsation analysis. We’ve worked with clients across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia—including Switzerland, Italy, Turkey, UAE, Germany, the Netherlands, Kazakhstan, and more.
Throughout my career, I’ve remained committed to education and knowledge sharing. I’ve conducted numerous seminars and trainings on CAESAR II, piping vibrations, expansion joints, and troubleshooting techniques—both in-person and online. I’ve lectured at universities and industry events, and I continue to develop specialized courses tailored to client needs. In recent years, I launched a free mentoring program for young engineers, selecting promising candidates for personalized guidance and professional development.
I believe that engineering is not just about calculations—it’s about solving real-world problems with precision, creativity, and responsibility. That belief has led me to publish technical papers, contribute to international conferences, and even file patents for innovative engineering solutions
Entrepreneurship has taught me that success requires more than technical skill. I’ve had to learn marketing, sales, and business management—often the hard way. I started with the illusion that I’d only be doing engineering, but quickly realized that building a company means wearing many hats. Today, NUMIKON is a well-organized firm with a growing team, and I’m proud of the culture we’ve built—one that values integrity, innovation, and continuous learning.
I’m a member of several professional organizations, including ASME, SPED, HRO CIGRE, CroFToMM, and the Croatian Maintenance Society. I speak Croatian and English fluently, and have basic proficiency in German.
Outside of work, I’m a husband and father, and I value the support of my family deeply. Their encouragement was crucial when I made the leap from corporate security to entrepreneurial risk. That leap has shaped not only my career but my entire outlook on life and leadership.
If I’ve learned one thing, it’s that every engineer must also be an innovator. Whether it’s improving a design, optimizing a process, or mentoring the next generation, innovation is what keeps us relevant—and what drives us forward.
