To introduce the Ozone Triad concept in dental ozone therapy
My journey with ozone began in 1999. A few years later, I came to understand that the foundations of Ozone Science and Engineering were established through the use of ozone in municipal drinking water treatment. After nearly 15 years of research and education in industrial ozone applications, I realized my previous understanding was incomplete; dental applications of ozone were not aligned with three interconnected core principles: ozone demand, ozone transfer, and ozone dose.
Ozone: The Revolution in Dentistry – Part II builds on the pioneering work of Professor Edward Lynch in 2004 and introduces the Ozone Triad concept, which brings these three principles together. When clinicians fully understand the Ozone Triad, they can apply ozone appropriately across a wide range of clinical situations without depending solely on prescriptive instructions. At the same time, the concept underscores the difficulty of creating and consistently applying standardized dental ozone therapy protocols for every clinical scenario.
The Ozone Triad was developed to address a fundamental challenge in dental ozone therapy: therapeutic effectiveness depends not simply on the amount of ozone delivered, but on whether the ozone can reach and satisfy the demand of the intended target. By integrating ozone demand, ozone transfer, and ozone dose into a single framework, this book seeks to provide a scientific and practical basis for understanding why ozone therapy may succeed or fail under different clinical conditions. It also explains why a single standardized ozone protocol cannot be universally applied to all clinical situations, and why treatment parameters must be adapted to the specific target, environment, delivery system, and ozone demand.
Expert Reviews
I must say that for the first time we have a truly scientific and practical description of medical ozone […] Works like that of Dr. Sabbah will be crucial to the definitive establishment of Medical Ozone in Medical Therapy and Dentistry.

More than twenty years after ozone began attracting renewed interest in dentistry, a structured and practical guide such as this is both timely and necessary. Dr. Sabbah’s contribution helps bridge the gap between research, engineering principles, and everyday clinical dentistry, ultimately supporting safer and more effective patient care.
Dr. Gregorio Martínez-Sánchez, Italy
The introduction of the “Ozone Triad” concept marks a significant progression in the field of dental ozone therapy. This innovative approach not only enhances the clinical use of ozone but also offers valuable direction to both dentists and researchers. By establishing a structured framework, the Ozone Triad concept guides practitioners in their clinical applications and assists researchers in refining their methodologies.
Prof. Edward Lynch, UK
Dr. Sabbah introduces the concept of the ozone triad to the dental community, which emphasizes the science and physiology of ozone use in clinical practice. By emphasizing the physiology, chemistry, and evidence-based principles that govern ozone use, it moves beyond anecdote and offers dentists a framework for predictable, rational application in practice. In doing so, it helps bridge the gap between research and chairside care, equipping clinicians to use ozone more effectively, safely, and with greater confidence in their clinical decision-making.
Dr. John Highsmith, USA
Clinical dental practitioners who want to explore the use of ozone to improve their ability to control infections would benefit greatly from Dr. Sabbah’s book. But so would practitioners in medicine. While his book focuses mainly on dental treatment it has information that would greatly improve medical treatment of infections. What is needed is a paradigm shift in medicine – a recognition that ozone could be incorporated into every medical and dental practice.
