Sofia is a little girl from Romania whose smile has a remarkable way of brightening every room. Behind that smile, however, lies a journey filled with challenges that no child should ever have to face.
Shortly after birth, it became clear that Sofia's development was not following the path her family had dreamed of. Over the years, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, drug-resistant epilepsy, severe scoliosis, and multiple complex medical conditions. Every diagnosis brought new questions, new therapies, and new obstacles for her family to overcome.
Today, Sofia depends on daily care, rehabilitation, medical treatments, and enteral nutrition through a gastrostomy tube. This feeding method was not a choice—it became essential after repeated episodes of choking, aspiration pneumonia, and the inability to receive the nutrition and medication her body desperately needed. Thanks to her gastrostomy, Sofia can now receive the nourishment required to become stronger and better prepared for the next stage of her journey.
One of Sofia's greatest challenges is her progressive scoliosis. As her spine continues to curve, it affects her comfort, posture, and overall quality of life.
