This wintery grouse is walking among long overgrown ivy and branches of soft toned heather. Needles from pine tree are sewn with hints of turquoise and teal while teasels arch with spiked barbs.

This fabric kit and printed pattern is a one-off pattern and not part of a set. This block measures 11"  square, although I have here mounted it on a 12" frame to give it a little more breathing room.

It features a plain background with raw edge applique (sewn without fusible) secured with free-motion embroidery. The applique is cut from batik fabrics and layered to build up the bird and the foliage.

The fabric kit includes the background fabric (approximately 14" square linen), the applique fabric (labelled), freezer paper for easy cutting and stabiliser for sewing. A printed copy of the pattern is included.
