Easy to love, harder to leave, and full of things to see and do - Manchester is a city with an incredible past, yet is always looking to the future. Created by dynamism and energy that are still part of its DNA, Manchester offers some of the best culture, arts, entertainment, nightlife, sports, architecture, and shopping in Europe. The constant change, creativity and renewal here make loving it easy, but making it forever different from last time.

Manchester - a city that's dynamic, buzzy, vibrant, and founded on over a thousand years of history. It beats to the rhythm of its fiercely independent heart with one of the largest cultural and artistic footprints in Europe, and it welcomes visitors like nowhere else with a combination of northern charm and no-nonsense hospitality. Take a trip to the essence of the new UK - come to Manchester.

Five unique city centre zones to explore, all in one guide

  • Medieval and Historic District

A compact and easily walkable district featuring a 600 year old gothic church, 16th century timber framed buildings, Georgian streets, several fascinating museums, and plenty of atmospheric pubs, cozy cafes and cool restaurants.

  • Commerical heart & Northern Quarter

This is the city's commercial district, with enough shops to satisfy even the most demanding shopaholic. There's also a diverse range of restaurants and cusines on offer, and here you'll find museums, beautiful libraries and galleries aplenty.

  • Deansgate and Castlefield

Deansgate is a historic avenue running through the centre of Manchester and its environs have many fabulous sights, museums, pubs and cafes. Nearby is Castlefield - canals and urban walkways with a distinctive laid-back vibe.

  • Salford Quays

A modern waterfront destination a little outside Manchester city centre. Famous for its theatre and arts complex, cultural sights, relaxing waterside boulevards, and conveniently close to Old Trafford football stadium.

  • City South

This city district hosts more cultural attractions, museums and galleries, world-class sporting facilities, a new city-centre park, wonderful pubs and bars, and plenty of places to stop on the way. It's also the heart of university life.
