Terms of Use & Licensing

Shelter of the Lord

Effective Date: October 12, 2026

Welcome to Shelter of the Lord, an independent Christian publishing ministry offering sermon manuscripts, worship resources, educational materials, and digital downloads prepared by Gabriel James.

By purchasing, downloading, or using our resources, you agree to the following terms.

1. Purpose of Our Resources

Shelter of the Lord provides faithfully Christian sermon, worship, and teaching resources to assist pastors, congregations, Christian educators, and ministry leaders.

Our materials are intended to support faithful biblical proclamation, Christian education, and congregational ministry.

Resources may include sermon manuscripts, exegetical and hermeneutical studies, PowerPoint presentations, illustrations, children's messages, bulletins, devotional materials, and related teaching resources.

2. Ownership and Copyright

Unless otherwise indicated, original content published by Shelter of the Lord is protected by copyright.

Purchasing a resource grants permission to use it under the terms of this agreement. It does not transfer copyright ownership.

All rights not expressly granted remain reserved by the applicable copyright holders.

Scripture quotations, hymn texts, artwork, photographs, and other third-party materials may be subject to separate copyright permissions and restrictions.

3. Standard Ministry License

Unless a particular product specifies otherwise, each purchased resource includes a nonexclusive, nontransferable license for use by one individual purchaser or one congregation or ministry organization.

A congregation purchasing a resource may share the necessary files with its pastors, employees, volunteers, and ministry teams for authorized activities within that congregation.

The license includes permission to:

  • Use sermon manuscripts in worship services and other congregational settings.
  • Edit, shorten, expand, and adapt sermons to fit the preacher's context and pastoral responsibilities.
  • Incorporate purchased illustrations and presentation materials into worship services and teaching sessions.
  • Print and distribute adapted children's messages, bulletins, activities, and devotional materials within the licensed ministry.
  • Use purchased resources in Bible studies, Sunday school, confirmation instruction, and other educational settings.
  • Create modified presentations and printed materials for congregational use.
  • Include licensed ministry presentations, sermons, and worship materials in livestreamed or recorded services, subject to applicable third-party permissions.
  • Retain working copies and adaptations for continuing use within the licensed congregation or ministry.

These permissions apply to the purchaser's ministry activities and do not authorize redistribution of the underlying resource package to unrelated organizations.

4. Permitted Adaptations

Purchasers are encouraged to adapt the materials appropriately for their particular ministry.

Pastors remain responsible for reviewing all biblical interpretations, doctrinal statements, illustrations, and applications before presenting them.

Adaptations may include changing wording, illustrations, formatting, presentation slides, educational exercises, and other content to meet local ministry needs.

Adaptations do not transfer ownership of the original material or create permission to distribute the original content outside the licensed ministry.

5. Restrictions on Redistribution

Without prior written authorization, purchasers may not:

  • Resell purchased files or derivative resource packages containing substantial portions of the original materials.
  • Upload the original resource files to public websites, shared resource libraries, file-sharing services, or online repositories.
  • Distribute purchased sermon manuscripts, studies, images, presentations, or other resource files to pastors or congregations outside the licensed organization.
  • Make purchased files available for unrestricted public downloading.
  • Include the original materials in another commercial publication or resource collection.
  • Remove copyright or attribution notices from copies intended for authorized internal sharing, except where a product specifically permits modification of such notices.

Purchasers may share completed worship bulletins, handouts, recordings, and similar ministry outputs with their own congregation and its participants as permitted under Section 3.

6. Online Worship and Recorded Services

Purchased resources may be incorporated into worship services, Bible studies, and other ministry presentations distributed through congregational websites, livestreams, and recorded video services.

This permission does not authorize posting original downloadable source files for public distribution.

Purchasers are responsible for obtaining any additional permissions required for third-party Scripture translations, hymns, music, photographs, or other copyrighted materials.

7. Attribution

When practical, acknowledgment of Shelter of the Lord and Gabriel James is appreciated.

However, pastors are not required to announce the source of an adapted sermon during worship.

A pastor using an adapted sermon remains responsible for its content and delivery.

Attribution does not replace the need to obtain permission for uses outside this license.

8. Digital Downloads and File Access

Digital resources are delivered electronically through our storefront or another delivery method specified at purchase.

Purchasers are responsible for downloading and securely retaining their files.

Availability of future downloads, updates, revised editions, or additional resources is subject to the terms stated on the individual product page.

Purchase of one resource does not automatically provide access to future products or expanded editions.

9. Product Descriptions and Compatibility

We strive to describe products accurately, including the number and type of materials included.

Purchasers should review file formats and software requirements before purchasing.

Editable documents, presentations, images, and other files may require compatible software.

We cannot guarantee identical formatting or operation across all devices and applications.

10. Refunds

Purchases are subject to our separately published Refund Policy and applicable consumer protection laws.

For download difficulties, defective files, or questions about a purchase, customers are encouraged to contact us so that we may assist.

11. Accuracy and Ministry Responsibility

Shelter of the Lord seeks to provide biblically faithful, carefully prepared Christian resources.

Nevertheless, purchasers are responsible for reviewing materials before using them in worship, instruction, or publication.

Resources are offered as aids to ministry and are not substitutes for independent pastoral study, theological judgment, or congregational oversight.

We do not guarantee that every resource will be appropriate for every congregation, denominational tradition, or ministry situation.

12. Limitations of Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, Shelter of the Lord is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use or inability to use purchased resources.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability or statutory rights where doing so is prohibited by law.

13. Additional Permissions and Group Licensing

Pastors, congregations, circuits, districts, schools, and other ministry organizations seeking permission beyond the Standard Ministry License may request additional authorization.

This includes organizations wishing to distribute purchased resource files among multiple congregations or institutions.

Additional permissions must be granted in writing.

14. Changes to These Terms

Shelter of the Lord may update these terms as its resources and services develop.

Updated terms will apply prospectively. Changes will not retroactively reduce rights already granted under a completed purchase unless the purchaser agrees or applicable law requires otherwise.
