Cycle Syncing can seem daunting from afar, but I promise once you get the hang of it, it will become an easy part of your life, a routine if you will.
A couple things to start... What is cycle syncing and why do it?
My way of explaining it is, aligning your lifestyle habits with your menstrual cycle. The menstrual cycle exists within 4 phases (ranging in days) that occur during each month for women/"born bleeders." We practice this to live balanced or regulated lives and essentially eliminate pesky pms all together. We want to become like the women running around with smiles on their faces in the "Tampax" commercials.
Here are my tips that led me to cycle syncing:
- Listen to podcast episodes with hormone specialists. I learned mostly from Alisa Viti and Dr. Mindy Pelz as guest on popular pods like Mel Robbins or "The Doctor's Farmacy" with Dr. Mark Hyman
- Download the MyFLO app, I have found it to be the most accurate and informative app for cycle syncing. It does cost to download, but it is worth it! It is what helps me understand where I am in my cycle so that I can live in alignment with that
- With the knowledge of where you are in your cycle, you can look up info on them! I typically refer to books or blogs off of Pinterest.
- Start slow! Baby steps always lead to big and lasting results. No need to overwhelm yourself, just start making light adjustments. Something easy like not choosing walking over running during your menstrual phase.
- Follow accounts that educate you. Some examples: @composednutrition @dr.mindy.pelz @floliving @restoring.eve
- Join my mailing list ;) and follow @miss.sophie.montes for more tips!
The more you practice, the easier it will be. And you will probably find yourself wanting to do more of it. You can feel the shifts quickly. Pain free, happy cycles are SO worth it!
