About Adam

My name is Adam Pernak and I’m a writer.

‘Hello, Adam!’

Hello!

I’m also a communication coach, which sounds like something you’d walk through on the way to the buffet car, but is really just someone who helps people to superpower their communication skills - at work, in relationships, or just generally in life.

You can find out more about that side of things HERE - but don’t race over there just yet, I want to tell you about The Long Truth, if you’ll permit me.

The Long Truth

It started as a set of ideas about the way language has evolved in recent times. I could see the obvious stuff, such as how social media and AI had chipped away at formal language. But it seemed much bigger than that. I sensed that we were losing the power of language, either by passing it over to tech tools, or by adopting lazy language. Cliches, tribal language, corporate speak - you could argue these things had been around for some time, but in a world where immediacy and instant communication had become the norm, I could see that we were thinking less and less about the words we used, and more about the gratification of instant reaction. The art of deep thinking (a key chapter in my book) was slipping away.

I expand on this in my posts on Substack, with snack-size examples issued weekly via The GBF newsletter. But if you’re interested in reading my book, it’s available as a paperback or e-book HERE.

As a Speaker

I’ve delivered my work to audiences in theatres, trade fairs, podcasts, debates, boardrooms and classrooms. I’m adaptable on the theme of language and communication. Please don’t ask me to contribute to anything which feels morally dubious. Otherwise, I’d be happy to hear your request HERE.

As a Communication Coach

People have read my book and requested support in applying the Long Truth method. I’m happy to provide this, time permitting. These communication sessions are typically 1 hour in length, delivered via video call, and you can read about them HERE.

Well that’s all for now. I hope you’ll enjoy my notes and ideas on here. Please feel free to engage (not ‘reach out’), even if it’s just to leave me a comment to say ‘Yea!’ or ‘Noo’.
