Meet Ruth & Steph

I’m Ruth, a qualified Play Therapist and member of the BACP, with over 25 years’ experience supporting children and families.

I spent 20 years as a teacher and SENCO and during my final five years in education began delivering therapeutic interventions. This sparked my passion for working therapeutically with children and led me to retrain with a Post Graduate Diploma in Play Therapy.

For the past six years I have worked therapeutically with children while also supporting the parents, families and schools around them. My work brings together my experience in education, child development and therapy, helping adults understand what may be happening beneath a child’s behaviour and respond with greater confidence and connection. To facilitate this work I have trained in Theraplay, Filial Therapy and Building Underdeveloped Sensory Systems qualifications.

I’m Steph, also a member of BACP and a qualified Play Therapist with over 25 years’ experience supporting children, families and schools.

I began my career as a secondary school teacher before spending 10 years within Primary Specialist Provision. I qualified as a Play Therapist in 2015 and have since worked across primary schools throughout Liverpool.

I love therapeutic work with children! I have completed additional training in Parent-Child Attachment Play and Working Creatively with Trauma (50 hours). I am a qualified Children's Yoga teacher (95 hours) and use this to inform playful ways for nervous system regulation for children. I am a SandPlay Therapist, registered with AST. I can also offer Creative Clinical Supervision to therapists, educators and mental health practitioners.
