About Me
Hi, I’m Katie Milton Jordan — writer, wanderer, and now, proud publisher of The Townie: A Modern-Day Front Porch.
After years of chasing big dreams across boardrooms, borders, and a fishing boat or two, I landed right where I needed to be: in the Hill Country of Texas, waving at strangers and swapping stories in small-town parking lots.
I started The Townie because I believe rural life is rich with meaning, humor, and grit — it just doesn’t always make the news. Our digital front porch shares the wisdom, quirks, and charm of places like Mason, Menard, Junction, Fredericksburg, and Brady — from produce stand gossip to why we still don’t have a Walmart (and don’t want one).
If you’ve ever tried to decode a sideways smile at the feed store, wondered why everyone waves at everyone, or found a casserole on your porch with no note… you’re in the right place.
Welcome, neighbor. You’ll fit in just fine. Eventually.
