Want to grab more boards? Do the Recycling Drill.
If you want to become a better rebounder in basketball, here’s a great drill you can do.
It’s called the Recycling Drill and it’ll help you grab more rebounds because it’ll teach you how to time the jumps for boards.
This is something Dennis Rodman, arguably one of the best rebounders to play the game, was excellent at.
He was able to perfectly estimate how long the ball would take to hit its apex and begin its drop, allowing him to jump for it at the perfect time.
With this skill, Rodman was able to nearly average 20 rebounds a game multiple seasons in a row.
How To Do The Recycling Drill
So, here’s how to do the Recycling Drill:
- Stand in the block (or on the free-throw line)
- Toss the ball off the backboard
- Run and jump towards the ball and rebound it w/ both hands
- Land then pump fake
- Then go up for a lay-up
- Remember to do this drill on both sides of the rim.
- Do 3 sets of 10 reps on both sides.
