How to Tap

EFT Tapping, also known as the Emotional Freedom Technique, combines the principles of ancient Chinese acupressure with modern psychology. This safe, simple technique has you focus on a particular negative emotion or limiting belief (for example, fear, worry, shame, or any unresolved problem) while using your fingertips to tap on specific meridian points of the body.

Tapping on these meridians sends an electromagnetic pulse to your brain’s limbic system where the stress associated with those thoughts and feelings is stored, and acts a “circuit breaker” to disrupt the electromagnetic signal of distress…allowing you to release the stress and move forward with ease.

TAPPING POINTS...

Here are the nine points you’ll be tapping while repeating short reminder phrases to keep the focus on the issue you’re working to resolve. Use your fingertips to tap 5-7 times on each point. (Tap on either the left or right side, or both sides at once!)

Karate Chop. The side of your hand. This point is used only during the initial set-up statements (typically a sentence that begins with "Even though...").

Top of the Head. Directly on the crown of your head.

Eyebrow Point. Where the eyebrows begin closest to the nose.

Side of the Eye. On the bone directly along the outside of either eye.

Under the Eye. On the bone directly under either eye.

Under the Nose. The area directly beneath the nose and above the upper lip.

Under the Mouth. The crease just below your bottom lip and above the chin.

Collarbone Point. Starting from where your collar bones meet in the center, go down an inch and out an inch on either side.

Under the Arm. On either side, about 4” beneath the armpit. (Use your hand to pat)
