Practice Questions for the AEMT National Registry Certification Exam — Ebook with Full Explanations (EPUB + PDF)
300 original practice questions, every one written from the published test plan, with an explanation for every wrong answer as well as for the right one.
This is a question bank, not a textbook. It is built for the stage of study where the reading is done and what is left is finding out which answers are wrong, and why.
How the book is organised
- A 22-question diagnostic that returns a study order rather than a score, weighted by the test plan, so a gap in the 33 percent Clinical Judgment domain outranks a gap in the 8 percent EMS Operations domain.
- One chapter per test-plan domain: Airway, Respiration & Ventilation; Cardiology & Resuscitation; Trauma; Medical/Obstetrics/Gynecology; EMS Operations; Clinical Judgment. The chapters, the diagnostic and both practice exams are drawn at the published weights.
- Questions in sets of ten, with the answers starting on a later page, so reading ahead by accident is not possible.
- Two timed practice exams of 120 questions each, mixed in the test plan's proportions and paced to the real exam's 180 minutes for 135 items, about 160 minutes for 120.
- A 40-item second-best-answer drill, a misconception index, a test-plan cross-reference and a glossary.
What is different about the explanations
Most prep books explain the correct answer and leave the other three alone. Every explanation here does four things: why the key is right, traced to the part of the test plan it came from; why each wrong option was tempting, naming the misconception behind it; the detail in the question that rules that option out; and the one line that separates the key from the next-best option. On a scenario exam the failure mode is rarely ignorance. It is choosing the second-best answer.
Written to the published test plan, at the AEMT level
Every question traces to a knowledge area in the National Registry's AEMT examination test plan, administered from 1 July 2024. Every question is written to the AEMT level of the National EMS Scope of Practice Model: IV and IO access, fluids, supraglottic airways and the AEMT medication list, with no paramedic drugs or procedures. The explanations draw on public sources: the NASEMSO National Model EMS Clinical Guidelines, the 2025 AHA guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiovascular care, the national field triage guideline, the National Incident Management System, the Emergency Response Guidebook, the federal bloodborne pathogens and health privacy rules, and open textbooks. No question is taken from, or modelled on, any real exam question. The diagnostic, the two practice exams and the drill reuse the chapter questions, so 300 is the number of distinct questions in the book rather than a count of repeats.
What the book does not reproduce
The questions are single-answer multiple choice. The exam also uses multiple-response, build-list, drag-and-drop, options-box and graphical items; expect those on screen on exam day, testing the same content.
No book can promise a result. This one shows which answers are wrong, and what the wrong answer was built out of, before the exam asks.
