The first CH-47F, an upgraded CH-47D, took to the skies in 2001; the first production model was unveiled on June 15, 2006, at Boeing's Ridley Park, Pennsylvania, and took to the skies on October 23, 2006. Honeywell engines with 4,868 shaft horsepower (3,630 kW) and an airframe with greater single-piece construction to reduce maintenance requirements[93] (9,500 kg). A Rockwell Collins Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) cockpit and BAE Systems' Digital Advanced Flight Control System are among the new avionics (DAFCS).
