Changhe Z-10
INFORMATION
Chinese medium attack helicopter Changhe Z-10, also known as "helicopter-10" in Chinese, was created for the People's Liberation Army Ground Force. Although its primary purpose is anti-tank warfare, it also has secondary air-to-air combat capabilities.
The project was started by chief designer Wu Ximing and involved the Russian Kamov Design Bureau under a contract with the Chinese government. However, the collaboration unexpectedly ended due to fundamental differences in design philosophies. The PLA General Armaments Department and the Chinese designers wanted a lighter-weight, more maneuverable aircraft with less focus on armor. The Changhe Aircraft Industries Corporation (CAIC), which produces the helicopter locally, further developed it.
