MH-47G
The MH-47G Chinook is a cutting-edge heavy-lift helicopter that is flown by the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (SOAR), also referred to as the "Night Stalkers." The 160th SOAR uses Chinooks for their heavy attack missions. This relates to the movement of Special Operations Forces. The aircraft can also be used to replenish supplies. The so-called "fat cow" operations, in which MH-47s are given additional internal fuel bladders and deployed out as a permanent on-ground refueling station for other air assets, are another way that MH-47s might be utilized. The MH-47 can also function as a platform for aerial C2 (command and control). Due to the fact that it was the only US Army helicopter capable of assisting Special Operations in Afghanistan's higher mountainous regions, MH-47 played a significant part in that operation.
