[SPH] AN-94

The AN-94 (Avtomat Nikonova model of 1994) is a highly advanced Russian assault rifle developed to replace the AK-74. Designed by Gennadiy Nikonov, it was officially adopted in the mid-1990s by the Russian military, though only in limited numbers due to its complexity and cost.

Chambered in 5.45×39mm, the AN-94 features a unique delayed recoil system that allows it to fire the first two rounds at an extremely high cyclic rate of approximately 1800 rounds per minute, before dropping to a more conventional automatic rate (~600 rpm). This "hyperburst" mode was intended to improve hit probability by firing two closely grouped shots before recoil affects the shooter’s aim.
