The idea for this piece was simply the color palette and to experiment with making areas of color overlap and move into each other while keeping the grid form. The colors are bright and cheerful (someone, who is not me, described it as joyful), while being just a little bit earthy. I probably used a bit of unbleached titanium when mixing tints. People talk about a pop of color -- this is silent fireworks of color. I wasn't really thinking about the shapes of the groupings of colors while I was making it but in the finished piece I see something like what I imagine a lily looks like to a bee. It's not at all apparent up close but comes together with a little distance.
The black frame is included. Shipping is additional.
