"we all go together 3" original acrylic and collage on mdf board. 18" x 24" x 1/4"

The process is very important to this product. This started with layers of colored paper and old books that were power sanded to sort of "blend" them together. The resulting surface gets edited with layers of paint and then sanded and painted and sanded and painted until I'm happy with the textures and interplay of colors. It's creative destruction that I'm directing but don't have total control over. Then I spend many happy hours drawing with black acrylic ink and a dip pen until the whole plane is covered in round shapes - a net of emptiness over field of colors creates the illusion of separate objects. 

This was made as part of a commission. I made two similar pieces according to the clients' size specifications and they chose their favorite. (For the record, they said it was a difficult decision and they took a bit to agree on which one they wanted.)

The substrate of this work is 1/4" thick MDF board. Unlike canvas, it is a solid, hard surface. It is not framed. It will be shipped without a frame. When it's purchased, I will try to get in touch with the buyer to ask if you intend to frame it or would you like supports added to the back to allow the installation of hanging hardware.
