The 11th SS Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division "Nordland" was a Waffen-SS division formed in 1943, primarily composed of volunteers from Northern Europe, including Denmark, Norway, and the Netherlands, as well as some ethnic Germans. It fought mainly on the Eastern Front, notably in the defense of the Baltic region and later in the Battle of Berlin. The division wore the SS runes on the right collar tab, while the left tab was usually blank or featured a Nordic sunwheel symbol in rare instances. Their cuff title read "Nordland" in silver Gothic script on a black band with silver piping. Despite being labeled a "volunteer" division, conscription was later used, and the unit gained a reputation for fierce fighting, particularly during the final battles of the war.
