Keep the general in you playing
Exploring Officer — the Napoleonic Wars: seventeen researched battles cut into fifty-four engagements, and six theatres, from Egypt in 1798 to the Hundred Days, that build a fresh action to whatever table you have.
The Intelligencer — the War of the Spanish Succession: seven theatres — Flanders 1708, the Danube 1704, Valencia 1707, the Upper Rhine 1703, Italy 1706, Aragon 1710 and the French frontier 1712 — that build a new action every time you ask, and fourteen battles from First Höchstädt to Denain, cut into thirty-eight engagements.
Every scenario prints as a sheet: the staff map, both orders of battle, the objectives, how it ends, and the men in command. It works with any set of rules for the period.
You get a download and a licence key for each app. Each key opens its app on two devices — a Windows computer, an iPhone or iPad, and for Exploring Officer an Android phone as well. Payhip asks you to make a free account for the bundle at checkout.
Made by a wargamer, for wargamers
I created Vedette and its scenario and historical battle generators so that the busy wargamer can easily find a scenario to fight: less time creating, more time playing.
I use them myself, and I’ve been surprised how much variety and depth they’ve added to my own games. The games are challenging and can be tight, and I particularly love the maps and how they play.
I’m not a historian. The scenarios are built from the published orders of battle and the histories, with the sources cited, but they are a guide to a good game, not a work of reference: where the history and the table disagree, the table wins.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. See the gallery at vedette-wargames.com/gallery for pictures from my own table, and do get in touch if there’s a battle or a period you’d like to see.
