Sometimes you become friends with someone and pretty quickly you know you’ll be as this as thieves for a very long time - you’d even go over a cliff with one another.

My wonderful friend Lindsay, is Thelma to my Louise.

These easy to master socks represent the way that we just fit together and how our similarities compliment the differences in our personalities too.

Why not knit a matching pair of Thelma socks, while your Louise does the same, and then swap with one another!

Featuring several different colour work motifs and elements, these socks are fun to knit and never get boring. Reverse the colours on sock two, to mix it up every more.

Two widths are provided in the pattern (9’’ and 10’’ circumference, measured at the ball of the foot) and the socks can be knitted to the desired length.

First published in print as part of my book, ‘The Second Drawer Down’ available from www.trulyhooked.com

Materials:
2 x 50g sock yarn in contrasting colours (see notes below)
2.5mm mini circular needles for socks, or DPNS, or magic loop cable
stitch marker
darning needle

Suggested yarns:
Sample shown used Truly Hooked Standard sock in Ochre and Cadbury
Any sock yarn is suitable for this pattern. Choose wool fibres for stetch and comfort. I deally your yarn should also include nylon for strenght and durabilty. Avoid slippy fibres and select solid or tonal colours so the colourwork pattern shows up. Take a black and white photograph of your chosen yarns, this will show if the contrast is stromg enough between them.
Your fabric should be firm, with a little give. Socks should fell 'bandage tight' when first put on, and will relax with wear, like your favourite pair of jeans.

Other yarns used for tests/projects include:
Cygnet Truly Wool Rich 4ply
West Yorkshire Spinners signature 4ply
Garnstudio Drops Nord
King Cole Zig Zag 4ply
