[SPH] M1 Thompson

The M1 Thompson is a World War II-era submachine gun developed in the United States as a simplified and more cost-effective version of the earlier Thompson M1928. Chambered in .45 ACP, the M1 was designed for close-quarters combat, delivering heavy stopping power at short ranges.

It operated using a blowback action and fired from an open bolt, unlike the M1928 which used a delayed blowback system. The M1 was fed from 20- or 30-round box magazines (drum magazines were dropped for simplicity) and had a cyclic rate of fire around 600–700 rounds per minute. The M1A1, a further simplified variant, replaced the complex firing pin with a fixed firing pin machined into the bolt.
