Little Roots Haunted STEM Academy

Little Roots Haunted House STEM Academy is an 18-page spooky engineering adventure designed for children ages 3–9.

Young learners will build, test, investigate, problem-solve, and improve their designs through playful Halloween-themed STEM challenges.

Inside, children will work through hands-on activities including building a freestanding haunted house, testing it with moving air, creating a ghost zip line, designing a bone bridge, launching a soft pom-pom pumpkin, rescuing a spider with an invented device, and exploring light and shadows.

The academy also includes planning and lab pages, opportunities to make predictions and record observations, a create-your-own STEM challenge, and an official Haunted House STEM Academy Junior Engineer Certificate at the end.

Designed with mixed ages in mind, many activities include simpler participation ideas for younger engineers and added predicting, comparing, measuring, explaining, and redesigning for older learners.

Most challenges can be completed with common household or craft supplies such as paper, cardboard, craft sticks, cups, string, tape, blocks, pom-poms, and a flashlight.
