Please welcome Jolie, my toe-up sock design, which is a sister design to the cuff-down Gerda Socks. Both socks are worked in the delicate Rowan Leaves stitch pattern but from different directions.
Begin with Judy’s Magic Cast-on, work the toe, then work the instep in the Rowan Leaves stitch pattern and the sole in Stocking stitch. Start increasing to create the gusset and, using German short rows, turn the heel, then work the heel flap in the Heel slip-stitch pattern. Continue by working the Rowan Leaves stitch pattern until you reach the desired length of the leg where you’d like to start working the cuff. Work the cuff in 1x1 Rib and bind off using the Tubular Bind-off, which gives a perfectly neat edge to your socks.

21 (21.5, 22.5, 23, 23.5, 24.5) cm / 8.25 (8.5, 9, 9.25, 9.5, 9.75)” (Note: for best fit, the socks are intentionally 1.5 cm / 0.5” shorter than the wearer’s foot. Take this into account if you adjust the foot length).

-2 skeins of Gründl Hot Socks Uni 50 yarn, in chocolate brown (10) colourway, 75% superwash merino wool, 25% polyamide, approx. 50 g / 210 m / 229 yds per skein;
-or approx. 282 (296, 314, 329, 338, 353) m / 308 (323, 343, 359, 369, 386) yds of fingering or sock weight yarn that gives you gauge. (Yardage includes 15% of extra yarn).

Sample made using 80 cm / 32” long circular needles, however choose the length according to your preference.
Please note that you will need another circular in the same size to separate the cuff stitches for the Tubular Bind-off.

Gauge
32 stitches and 44 rounds = 10 cm / 4” over Stocking stitch. Gauge swatch worked on size 2.25 mm / US 1 needles, in the round and measured after blocking.
