So, you’d like to knit cuff-down socks but you don’t like to pick up stitches along the heel flap?
Then you are at the right place, as in this pattern we are going to use only increases and decreases to create the heel. Isn’t it just brilliant?! Let’s get started!

To fit following sizes
S (M, L)
or to fit a circumference measurement at the ball of the foot of 17.5 (20, 22.5) cm / 7 (8, 9)”

Foot and leg lengths: adjustable

Finished sock circumference
• 15.75 (18.5, 20) cm / 6.25 (7.5, 8)” (Note: for a snug fit, the socks intentionally measure approx. 1.75 (1.5, 2.5) cm / 0.75 (0.5, 1)” smaller than the wearer’s foot and leg circumference)

Finished sock foot length: adjustable (Note: for best fit, you may want to make your socks 1.25 cm / 0.5” shorter than your actual foot length)

Finished sock leg length: adjustable

Sample shown in size L with Medium Standard Toe.

Suggested yarn
1 skein of Manos Del Uruguay Alegria in Atlántico (9537) colourway, 75% superwash merino wool,
25% polyamide, approx. 100 g / 425 m / 445 yds per skein; or approx. 43 (64, 75) g / 183 (270, 320) m / 200 (295, 350) yds of fingering weight yarn that gives you gauge. (Yardage for a 12.5 x 12.5 cm / 5 x 5” gauge square is included).

Needles and hook
2.5 mm / US 1.5, (length according to your preference) or size needed to obtain gauge.
2 extra circular needles to complete the folded cuff (same size as your working needle)
2.5 mm / US C crochet hook for the Provisional Cast- on (try to use one that matches your knitting needle size)

Notions
• 3 stitch markers
• waste yarn for the Provisional Cast-on
• row counter
• blunt tapestry needle
• scissors
• sock blockers (not required but would be useful)

Gauge
28 sts and 44 rnds = 10 cm / 4” over St st pattern. Gauge swatch worked on size 2.5 mm / US 1.5 needles, in the rnd. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge and use exactly the same needles for the swatch that you plan to use for your socks, as the material a needle is made of can make a big difference to your gauge. Measurements taken from flattened but unstretched fabric, after blocking.

The pattern contains schematics and written instructions. It has been professionally tech edited and test knitted.

Highly recommended for first-time sock knitters!
