Lesson_59_Jacob_Prepares
Jacob is finally going home, but his past is coming back to haunt him. He sends messengers ahead to his
brother Esau, hoping to make peace. The messengers return with terrifying news: Esau is marching toward
them with 400 men! Jacob is paralyzed by fear, assuming Esau is coming to massacre his entire family. In his
panic, Jacob does two things: he prays his first truly desperate prayer (reminding God of His promises), and he
formulates a brilliant tactical plan. He divides his camp in two, and sends massive waves of expensive
livestock ahead to 'appease' Esau's anger. Today, we explore the reality of facing our fears, the math of
dividing a camp, and the psychology of a perfectly timed gift.
