Lesson 85 - Holy Ground and the Call of Moses
The moment the Lord sees Moses turn aside to look at the bush, God calls to him right out of the flames:
"Moses, Moses!" Moses answers with one Hebrew word—Hineni ("Here I am!"). Immediately, God sets a
sacred boundary: "Do not come near; take your sandals of your feet, for the place on which you are standing is
holy ground." Then God reveals Himself as the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, and
Moses hides his face in reverent awe. Today we explore what makes something "holy," the sensory nerve
endings in our bare feet, ancient leather sandals, and how God knows each of us by name!
