The Chain Link Banner is an investigation into combining the free-spirited nature of the Bohème with the rigidity and structure of traditional crochet design. The individual panels mimic the shape-work of boho macrame, the proposed fringe or tassels - able to be selected individually by each maker - evoke a free-spirited vibe so prominent in modern crochet, and the joining method, or “chain link” if you will, pushes the limits of how traditional structured stitches can build on each other in unfamiliar ways.
The project is worked in Panels – A (the diamonds) and B (the link). Two of Panel A are crocheted first. Then, each A Panel is joined to one side of Panel B with its own yarn. The two yarns are worked simultaneously, but not held together.
